Rolfslake Wednesday open 22nd July 2009.

The perfect match for Eddie Taylor-Green today.

Today as the anglers arrived at the lake conditions were far from perfect, there was a strong wind blowing from the big lake to the small lake, and a chance of rain was predicted. The area most of the anglers wanted to fish was in the small lake at the back end {pegs 40 and 2} as it was black with fish.

Again i arrived late at the lake and the draw was already in progress, so when i put my hand in and pulled out peg 28 the same peg i drew last week, it gave me another chance to break my P.B of 211-08 which i failed to beat by 2lb.

My plan today was to fish exactly the same as last week but to visit the inside line a lot quicker than i did . As the whistle blew to start the match Dave on 32 was into a fish within 10 seconds of laying his rig out which eventually went 7lb so he was off and running. My target to beat today was cartel member John Bennett who was on peg 9 and he was also into fish pretty quickly so i had my work cut out for the next 5 hours.

In first place today was me Eddie Taylor-Green who after drawing peg 28 today i had a plan to fish just three areas, the two bushes either side of my peg at a range of 3 metres and a line out in front at 5 metres all to be fished with paste on the deck. This method has helped me to four consecutive frames {3 fourths and a second} so i was hopeful that it would work today, and also i was using a new paste that i have been testing recently to be used with a John Walker insert paste float. The first hour was slow on the 5 metre line with fish blowing and plenty of foul hooked fish, which i managed to get one in for 15-08, so i was already better off than last week. In the second hour i tried the bush to my left and was rewarded with four quick double figure fish so that made my mind up for the rest of the match.

It was after this that the swim turned in to fantasy as evertime i put the rig out with my paste X4 i was into fish that were big {i lost one at the net that was near to 20lb but the majority of fish that i lost were big} which eventually cost me three superb John Walker paste floats and a chance of a monster weight. In the last hour i ran out of paste and had to make some more which upset my rhythm and cost me my chance of a very rare 400lb, and i eventually ended up with a new P B of 328-12 which was helped with my board weight of 21 fish for 231-04.

In second place today was John Bennett who came back into form from peg 9 on the motorway bank. John fished two lines ,the first at a range of 6 metres in line with the hut on the opposite bank and the second was against the bank to John's right near the bush. John used paste and banded pellet to catch his fish which were also big as he had 8 fish for 109lb by feeding heavy to keep the fish there and he ended up with 215-00.

Completing the frame was Hugh Crawford on peg 8 ,and he decided to fish halfway across on the bar that runs between the big and small lake. Hugh fished a small ball of paste that kept a steady run of fish visiting his keenets. Later in the match Hugh fished the bush to his left and continued to catch right upto the whistle, and was rewarded with 176-12 for third.
